'I really admire LeBron James,' Novak Djokovic says he identifies with athletes who have the ‘hunger for success’
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Novak Djokovic admires those sportspersons who have the hunger to break limits, to achieve something that’s considered impossible. He observed that LeBron James , Tom Brady , Serena Williams , and Cristiano Ronaldo have these qualities and that’s why the Serbian great admires them.

Djokovic recently got knocked out of the Rome Open, losing the third round match to Alejandro Tabilo 6-2, 6-3. During an interview with Kurir, Djokovic talked about his on-court behavior, the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) race, and his role models in other sports.

Being a 24-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic said that he identifies with those who have the winning mindset and who work consistently to become better each day.

Sometimes I really admire LeBron James, sometimes I identify with him, as well as with Tom Brady. Serena Williams is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to major champions, her hunger for success, for advancement. And Cristiano Ronaldo is like that. The very desire to raise your body, your brain, your emotions, your character to a different level every day, to be a better version of yourself every day, to break the limits that they want to impose on you, is something incredible.  Novak Djokovic said

The 36-year-old created history last year by winning three Grand Slam titles but hasn’t been able to emulate the same success this year so far. After winning the 2023 ATP Finals, Djokovic played four tournaments this year without lifting a trophy.

Novak Djokovic visits Emergency Centre after head injury

After winning his Rome Open campaign opener against Corentin Moutet, Novak Djokovic was leaving the court when a metal water bottle from a spectator hit him on his head. Initially, Djokovic confirmed things were not serious, but after losing to Alejandro Tabilo, the Serb hinted that the defeat in 67 minutes was due to the water bottle incident

Now reports have emerged that Djokovic went to an Emergency Centre in Belgrade to undergo scans. The reports stated that no major problems were detected, which means that the 36-year-old will enter Roland Garros without any niggle.

Djokovic will be arriving in Paris to defend his title as well as to lift his historic 25th Grand Slam title. His rival and 14-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal is likely to play there, but it’s uncertain whether he’ll be able to play to his full potential as he recently lost in three clay-court tournaments without making it to the quarterfinals.
